FIFA WORLD CUP 1982-1994

Spain was hosted in 1982 World Cup which has 24 teams, the first expansion since 1934. The teams were divided into six groups.the top two teams in each group qualify to the second round. Hungary beat Salvador 10-1, which has been the only occasion to this day that a team scored 10 goals in a World Cup match.The semi-final was held between West Germany and France saw another controversy when German keeper Harald Schumacher's challenge took out Patrick Battiston, with the score at 1-1.when Schumacher escaped a red card, and Germany won in a penalty shoot-out.The champion team was Italy andItalian captain Dino Zoff was the oldest player to win the World Cup. Italian striker Paolo Rossi, who was making his comeback after a match-fixing scandal and the ensuing ban, was the tournament top-scorer with six goals including a hat-trick against Brazil.


Mexico became the first country which was hosted two world Cups by hosting the 1986 World Cup.16 teams were qualify.The final two matches in all groups would kick off simultaneously. Canada, Denmark and Iraq made their first finals. The quarterfinal match between England and Argentina is remembered for Diego Maradona's two unbelieveable goals, later regarded as player of the tournament.Maradona's first goal is called Hand of God goal, and the second, considered to be the Goal of the Century. Argentina beat West Germany 3-2 in Final match


The 1990 World Cup was hosted by Italy. Cameroon qualified the quarter-finals, a first for an African team. After finishing runners-up in the two previous tournaments, West Germany won their third World Cup.
